Handler started her acting career to support her. However, when she was age 21, Handler decided to pursue stand-up comedy as a full-time profession after she discovered her storytelling capabilities. Handler began her career in her role on the Oxygen Network's Girls Behaving Poorly which was a reality program with a hidden-camera/practical joke. From 2002 to 2005, the show was aired. Handler then started appearing on other TV shows such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began working as a correspondent on The Tonight Show as a reporter. Handler made her breakthrough with the hosting of the show on E! it was dubbed the Chelsea Handler Show. The show lasted for two seasons. Handler then performed in America on Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend and HBO have been able to broadcast the stand-up comedian's shows. In 2010 it was announced that she was to host for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. With this, she became the second woman in history to host the VMA's following Roseanne Barr.
